ALAMOUSA – Alamosa Mayor Ty Coleman has announced he is running for re-election and is officially launching his campaign.
“It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as mayor over the past several years,” said Coleman. “As a city, we have made great strides in working together as a team for the greater good of our entire community. Although much has been done in our city, there is still a lot to do. I believe that our city has greatness in it and that there is no limit to what we can achieve by working together. I need your help… I begin my re-election campaign by contacting you, my friends and my community partners to ask for your support, your volunteer efforts and your vote.
As Mayor of Alamosa, Ty Coleman has dedicated himself to listening and responding to residents’ concerns, being active in the business community, participating in local college activities, working with non-profit organizations. and government agencies, and working with city council members and city staff to improve the city as a whole.
Mayor Coleman has a servant heart and leads by example, serving his community in many roles.
Coleman is the Director of Business Relations for the Community Resources and Housing Development Corporation, which focuses on providing decent, safe, affordable and accessible housing to people in rural Colorado communities.
He runs a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) program that gives small rural businesses access to much-needed capital.
He volunteers with various community organizations such as the Center for Restorative Programs, the Early Childhood Council, the Kiwanis Club, the 12th Judicial Commission on Judicial Performance, the SLV Boys and Girls Club and Alamosa Youth Football.
“Regarding my leadership style,” says Coleman, “I believe in the acronym TEAM Together Everyone Achieves More. Together with city staff and city council, we have accomplished important things for the people of Alamosa.
Here is a short list of the city’s accomplishments:
• Improved access to parks, trails and the Rio Grande River.
• Expansion of urban art and recreation programs for young people.
• Improvement of city streets.
• Additional resources for law enforcement, firefighters and our IT department.
• Creation of the position of Director of Economic Development to help the City streamline its processes to support businesses and build greater collaboration that promotes our downtown area.
• Creation of the position of Director of Development Services to lead strategic planning, organizational development and community engagement.
“We have an amazing municipal staff who work hard, both strategically and intelligently, to make Alamosa a wonderful place to live, work and visit. And I consider it a great honor to be the mayor of Alamosa, and I will continue to serve our community with all my heart and soul.
